The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)--The Fair Labor Standards Act is a federal labor law of general and nationwide application, including Overtime, Minimum Wages, Child Labor Protections, and the Equal Pay Act.
--FLSA Overtime. The FLSA requires overtime compensation (at time and one-half) for all "hours worked" over a prescribed "threshold" (typically 40 hours per week), for "nonexempt" employees. FLSA overtime cases seek recovery for unpaid or underpaid back wages, plus double damages (called "liquidated damages") and attorneys' fees.
